We had a great turnout at out last meeting and there was a good buzz with lots of networking going on in the breaks. In the presentation slot, Bill Eaton gave us a fascinating talk about passive income, and had us all thinking about how to make money work for us, as opposed to working for money.
We are very pleased to welcome three new members;
Barrie Baxter of BFAT – Basic First Aid Training, Geoff Ford of One Stop Electrical and Joanne Russell of Goldsmith Wills and Probate.
This takes us to 21 members.
We are pleased to announce that we have 3 new members from our first meeting in January. Simon Callender from HSBC has joined our growing business club, and two others that came along to our meeting at the Waterfront this week have also joined us. This shows the new club and structure is working and with 20 members we are are well on the way to meeting our target of 25-30 members, which we feel is a comfortable and ideal amount for this type of business networking meeting.
We are especially looking for a few trades, such as Builder, Electrician, Plumbing etc. However, any business category that’s not already covered (see members page) are very welcome to come along and enjoy our well renowned friendly welcome, and excellent breakfast.
Members came together for the annual Christmas dinner and dance this week, hosted by The National Marine Aquarium. Despite the empty fish tank (illuminated with an eye-catching light show) the atmosphere was festive and full of sparkle. After a meet and greet and time to wander around the aquarium we sat down to a superb meal with many delicious choices, a free year pass to the the aquarium and of course a cracker – although some members refused to wear their hats!
The wine and chatter flowed well, and, before we knew it, it was time to move upstairs through the candlelit corridors to the disco overlooking Plymouth’s Barbican. Les Williams and his wife Kate were first on the dance floor demonstrating some rock ‘n roll moves worthy of Strictly!
The evening was a great success and our thanks must go to our member Mark Duchesne from the Aquarium for organising it on our behalf. The venue is truly spectacular for an event and was a cracking start to the festive season.

Breakfast this week at the Waterfront restaurant. If you cannot attend (and haven’t already told me) or if you have a guest please let me know by 2pm tomorrow so that I can confirm numbers.
This week Fiona is talking about “Equality, Who says?” covering the Equality Act which came into force last month. It is very topical and relevant to everyone, employers and employees. There has been a lot in the press about this piece of legislation so this is your chance to find out more about the topic.
Further to Fiona’s email send to members with the nominations received, we will collect your votes at the meeting this Thursday, but if you are unable to attend on that day, you are welcome to let me have your votes by email and I will ensure they are included in the count.
